mini player not working in El Capitan 10.11.4

Anyone who can help with mini-player?

Mini player no longer selectable (appears light gray text as opposed to black) in iTunes 12.3.3 running El Capitan 10.11.4 on a macbook air 2012.

OS X El Capitan (10.11.4)

Hover over the album art in the player controls area of iTunes, then click on it when you see the double-rectangle icon.

Thank you for the response, however nothing appears while hovering in the directed area. Any other suggestions, anyone?
