Flickering display on an early 2011 13-inch Macbook pro 2.3 gHz

Question

My early-2011 Macbook Pro (2.3 gHz, Intel core 1.5, Intel HD 3000) has recently been having a strange issue with the display. A one-inch or so bar of pixels near the center of the screen will randomly invert both their color and also reverse screen behind the pixels. This bar flashes quickly when it is there, but I can go hours without the issue until it randomly comes back. Running a dead pixel fix seems to help for a brief period.Picture of the problem: http://imgur.com/tyw0ZRH
