how do I get all my old information on my iphone 5 to my new iphone 6?
I finally got the iphone 6. I am trying to back up my info from the 5 to my 6 but I am being told that my 6 needs to be updated to do this.

Backup your 5 to iTunes. Then connect the 6 and update the software. Once the 6 is updated, restore the 5 backup to the 6.
The only issue would be if the 5 has a larger storage than the 6.
