To keep plugged in or not to keep plugged in that is the question.

New MacBook Air. I've received conflicting info and read some as well. So, is it 1) only use the adapter when charging the battery, but not using the system, or 2) use the system regularly running off the adapter, or 3) some combination of, say through the course of a week, running off of the adapter for a time and then running off the battery?

MacBook Air, OS X El Capitan (10.11.4)

A Simple usage plan would be to use on AC power when near an outlet. Use battery power when portability is required.

Carolyn Samit,

80% or so of the time that the system will be used an outlet will be nearby.

However, it was stated that too much reliance on the adapter would be hard

on the battery.

One source stated that I ought to use it on battery only, let it discharge down to

about 25%, and then charge without using. Then, use with the adapter. After

a day or so, remove the adapter and let the battery discharge. Use this sort

of pattern throughout the lifespan. Appreciate the link.

Thank you,

VALman
