Sometimes iMac with OS X El Capitan, version 10.11.4, will not wake up from sleep mode unless you use the power button. Is something wrong?

So you can't wake the iMac up by clicking the mouse or by tapping any key on the keyboard?
Im having the same error... and NO. The usb keyboard and bluetooth mouse will not "wake up" or respond to any mouse/key presses from the keyboard. Only holding the power button down to hard reset power will allow everything working again.

Same thing, it doesn't wake up like before, and on top is getting very slow !!!
I'm having the same problems on my MacBook Pro with El Capitan. Won't wake from sleep, tends to be slower, Safari is slower and sometimes freezes, and QuickTime Player won't load. My Mac used to run like a top.....not anymore.

FWIW, if your iMac is newer than Late 2012, it will go into Safe Sleep after 4 hours.
Just press the power button once.
Return or shift keys should turn the display back on if the display is off. However IME it will not wake a Mac which is sleeping.
Space bar or mouse click will wake the Mac when it is sleeping.
