Apple tv unplugged or plugged in
Is it advisable to leave the apple tv plugged into the power outlet? Do i need to unplug it when I'm not using it?

no, but it does use a 0.8Watt standby power

It was designed to sit in a powered sleep mode when not using it. Just make sure you put it to sleep or it is set to automatically go to sleep when you are finished using it. Quit all apps and return to the main menu. When it sleeps the light will go out.
