How do I create a custom theme in Keynote?
MacBook Air (11-inch Mid 2013), iOS 9.1
Open Master Slide, (View > Edit Master Slide)
add the objects you want to the master slide
add additional master slides if needed and delete unwanted masters
save as a theme (File > Save Theme)
Assuming you are using Keynote 6.x.x you start with a new document choosing a theme that is close to what you want and make alterations to suit.
Then from the File menu select Save Theme... You will need to select the option Add to Theme Chooser so that your new theme is available for selection when you start a new document.
If you are using an earlier version of Keynote the process is similar.
