iPhone won't back up to iTunes

Any details on the particulars of the phone?
It says in your signature that your Mac is on Snow Leopard - one needs at least Mountain Lion 10.8.5 for the current versions of iTunes 12.3.3
That may be one reason your phone is not backing up

i will check it is my sons computer, it let me restore my new iPhone, it is weird. i talked to verizon and apple
i downloaded new version of iTunes on his computer, it lets us back up the old broken phone just not the new iPhone just lets us restore it, i ordered a new iPhone as i thought there was something wrong with this one. so when i open box, take iPhone out should i just turn it on and plug in to my computer? do i hit restore from my computer or restore on my iPhone or hit set up new iPhone?
