Ipod Classic - off for three years - plugged into usb - 2 days - still reads "Do not Disconnect - how to get this to work - how do i get onto Itunes - please help?

This Ipod has been off for 2 – 3 years.

I plugged it into the USB and for 2 days it’s still reading “Do not disconnect …”

I wanted to download quicktime links onto it.

I'm clueless here.

How do i get this thing to work?

Would maybe like to play itunes or buy some new music also.

Any help would be appreciated.
