I have iMac 12.1 (mid 2011) can this support OS X 10.9.0 or later

I am new to iMac desktop (inherited when i changed my job recently) I want to buy Garage Band but it says I need OS X 10.9.0 or later. I have updated all software and it seems I have OS X 10.7.5 on this machine which is an iMac 12.1 (mid 2011) Can this machine support this later version if so how do i get it?
