Old e-mail keeps popping up

Having moved, I changed my e-mail address and Apple ID. My iPhone accepted the change in settings and the AppStore allows me to log in but every now and then I get an annoying message on the phone demanding the password for the old Apple ID, namely the olde-mail address which no longer exists. Is there any way to stop this?
