cant seen to get rid of OSX.GENIO

I have 2015 mac desk top ,I'm currently running the latest iOS anyway while surfing in safari an alert popped up with apple icon in background saying to call this number to fix virus, so after calling and speaking with this person he had me type in a key for him to access my mac but after noticing foreign speaking people in the background I became suspicious and I just started to close everything and ended the session. Called apple support she walked me through a couple of steps to get rid of history and download a malware program and run it, which got rid of most the malware/adware but there was one that it will not get rid of its called OSX.GENIO can anybody help me with this issue please I need step by step direction.
