MAC Mini interupting TV after El Capitan Upgrade

Mac MINI, Mid 2011

2.3 GHz Intel Core i5

8GB 1333 MHz DDR3

Intel HD Graphics 3000 512 MB

OS 10.11.4

20" Apple Cinema Display

Hello All,

I finally made the jump from 10.7.5. last week. The download and install took about 30 minutes. I was happy with the time and am happy with the upgrade so far! I am on a fiber optic service to the apartment and my apartment is networked with Cat 5e, my WiFi is directly linked to the FO switch. My feed to the computer is ran through the in-wall wires to a LINKSYS EtherFast 10/100 5-Port Workgroup Hub. This hub feeds my Mini, TV box and PlayStation. Prior to the upgrade I never had any conflicts using the Mini at the same time as the TV or the PS. Now, if anyone is using the computer, either for simple website nav using Firefox 46.0 or watching YouTube videos, the TV signal is choppy and freezes a bit. Using the PS at the same time, either for games or Netflix seems fine. Here is a grab of the heavy hitters in my Activity Monitor:

Firefox 999.0 MB 97.8 MB 53 659 519 photogod212

kernel_task 638.7 MB 0 bytes 110 0 0 root

SymDaemon 398.6 MB 179.3 MB 9 141 336 root

mds_stores 170.9 MB 2.8 MB 7 68 193 root

softwareupdated 102.1 MB 124 KB 5 103 226 _softwareupdate

WindowServer 75.4 MB 9.8 MB 4 357 173 _windowserver

Finder 40.7 MB 0 bytes 3 264 386 photogod212

mds 33.4 MB 14.9 MB 8 215 60 root

For the first few days after the upgrade %CPU was ridiculously high but that seems to have calmed down after the Firefox update. I am tech functional(with directions) but not savvy in the least. I have gone through several forums and tried to "dumb Down" the options/preferences a bit to decrease the strain and improve performance. I do not use Mail, Safari or iCloud. Does any of the information I provided point to anything that could be causing this problem?

Thank you for your input!

UPDATE. Further experimenting conducted; the signal to the TV gets interrupted when the computer is awake. I have all surface programs turned off. The only way I can stop the signal disrupt is to either put the computer to sleep or use Wi-Fi. So Yes, the Wi-Fi is a solution but it doesn't explain why my Mini has become such a bandwidth hog!

I hope someone here can give me a response to this dilemma.

Thanks,
