Are there any new fixes for the iMac fan whirring noise?

Are there any new fixes for the iMac fan whirring noise?

I have done a search on the Forum, of all previous Posts having to do with the fan whirring noise, and tried all the suggestions, but I still have that noise. My warranty has expired, so I am unable to call Apple Tech Support.

In my search of this problem, I found questions and replies dating back for up to 5 years ago.

Has anything new been discovered to correct this problem?

Thanks,

Jim

I have reset the SMC and PRAM, many, many times, .... that was the only suggestions offered in the older posts.

Will it damage the computer after awhile?

I am wondering if the problem exists only with the iMac's built in 2011, and 2012, because I haven't seen any older posts of iMac's having the problem in 2014, or 2015.

2011 and 2012 iMacs are dramatically different and I'm not aware of any widespread fan noise problem. Fan activity can be effected by elevated temperatures caused by applications that are demanding of the hardware or not running properly. What are your actual tems and fan speeds when you notice the noise? Maybe run EtreCheck and post it's report so we can get a look at what may be going on http://etrecheck.com

Here is the report that EtreCheck produced...

I noticed in "Launch Agents" there is a program that I had deleted a couple of months ago, but a part of it is still there... Fujitsu Scansnap.... but I have been having the "whirring fan" noise for 8-10 months.

EtreCheck version: 2.9.11 (264)

Fire fox may be having some issues, make sure it's up to date. Try using Safari for awhile just to test, even if you hate it.

Is it necessary to have this running all the time?

[running] com.amazon.music.plist (2015-12-24) [Support]

The report is very clean, nothing obvious to my eyes.

What are your actual fan speeds and temps when you notice the fan noise? I use iStatMenus https://bjango.com/mac/istatmenus/ to monitor temps and fan speeds

Are there any new fixes for the iMac fan whirring noise?
