Q: Gatekeeper

If I have my Macbook's Gatekeeper set to "Anywhere", and try to install an app from the internet, will that dialogue saying where the app was downloaded from and what app downloaded it and asking if I want to install/allow it still pop up?

MacBook Air (11-inch, Early 2014), OS X Yosemite (10.10.2)

Installing apps from anywhere is a good way to invite malware to be installed on your Mac.

    OS X: About Gatekeeper

Open System Preferences > Security & Privacy then select the General tab.

Select:  Mac App Store and identified developers

Never download apps from anywhere but the App Store.

Which app did you download and from which website?

I did not download or install any apps.

I was simply asking if the dialogue that pops up when you try to install an app from the internet still appears when the settings is set to "Anywhere".

I do not believe, however, that Apple would make OS X so vulnerable that the user could choose a setting which invites malware onto their machine.
