Issues with opening Microsoft Office(2011) Applications

Unable to open any of the MS Office Applications for Mac, this has started happening after my recent update to El-Capitan. On opening any application of MS office, the launching small window shows "Updating font menu" and then shows a crash report. Suggestions to fix it?User uploaded fileUser uploaded file

There are a number of discussions in the Microsoft Office For Mac 2011 support forum that may help. They include the following and there may be others there as well:

Office For Mac 2011 is compatible with El Capitan (although I don't think upgrading is a bad idea). There were originally some issues with 2011, especially a major issue with Outlook when El Capitan was first released, but Microsoft has issued updates that resolved them.
