Airplay video just loading and not playing.

I have experienced this, and my fix is to briefly turn AirPlay off and back on at my iPad. That makes it work normally. You may also need to hit Play if the video loads stopped.

BTW, you should post your complaint at https://www.apple.com/feedback/appletv.html so Apple understands that we have this problem.

Here's what I do, using my iPad as the source:

1. Turn ATV. I don't rely on waking it by network.

2. Enable AirPlay on iPad.

3. Start playing video on iPad, using browser, YouTube app, whatever.

4. Observe video loading but not playing, shown by progress bar on ATV.

5. Try hitting Play on ATV remote, in case video comes up stopped. The progress bar shows two times at the left if it's stopped. It also shows a thumbnail image of the first video frame, but that's often black, so hard to see.

6. Open iPad control center and raise the AirPlay menu, currently indicating Apple TV.

7. Tap iPad, then Apple TV in the AirPlay menu.

8. Video now plays normally, after hitting Play if necessary.

This sequence has worked for me 100% since I discovered it. And once in a while it's not required because the video works normally.

You might need to let it play a little bit on your device between turning AirPlay off and back on. That's no problem for me, because fingers aren't that fast, but you may be beating it.
