The mail app on Mac has suddenly stopped allowing me to send mail

Its quite funny...suddenly I have started getting a message that it cannot connect to smtp.gmail.com

So i deleted all my accounts and added them back but the problem persists.

Its quite ridiculous really that i have to use my Mac as a paperweight now.

I hope they will solve the problem rather than saying its a gmail problem. Very Very unhappy.
