Overheating

Alright, so I have a 2012 Macbook Pro 13" with all the standard specs. For a while now my computer has been severely overheating. I downloaded the FanControl app and tried to adjust the fan but that doesn't seem to work and it never reads what the fan is putting out... The temperatures reach 90C and will start to freeze my computer. Most of this occurs when I am watching Netflix. I do understand that the Silverlight is a big part of this, however it doesn't even seem like my fan is working. I'm not sure if I am having a fan problem or what.

By the way, your MacBook Pro stop working or kernel panic when over heating occur ?

Reset the SMC:

https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201295

If no success, download a temperature/fan speed monitoring application.

Open Activity Monitor to ALL PROCESSES and set CPU to display values from high to low.

When the MBP gets hot, post images of both for review.

Install a temperature and fan speed monitoring app such as iStat Menus 5

or smcFanControl

I am using smcFanControl and can see the temp and fan rpm.

I will try resetting it and post how it goes. And I do have the temperature/ fan control app. And I have checked the Activity Monitor when it gets super hot and the only thing that stands out using alot of CPU is the silverlight script from Netflix. I know it uses alot but I feel like my computer should be able to cool down and not reach such high temps.

Yes, I check the temp all the time cause I downloaded that app a long time ago. Adjusting the fan control on it doesn't do anything to my computers fan.

I also did a hardware diagnosis and it came up as 4MOT/4/40000002: Exhaust- 1999

Your MBP has a faulty fan that should be replaced. You can have the Apple store do it or get one from iFixit.com or Powerbookmedic.com and replace it yourself. Both web sites have install instructions and it is not difficult to do.
