Can i have dual osx on My MacBook i currently have el capitan but i need mountain lion to get My mackie audio device to work again how do i do this?

MacBook Pro (13-inch Mid 2012), OS X El Capitan (10.11.3)

To address your question, if you never installed Mt. Lion, it can be purchased from the Apple online store:


http://www.apple.com/shop/product/D6377Z/A/os-x-mountain-lion


You can install it on a separate HDD or partition your current internal HDD and install it there.


Since your 2012 MBP came with Lion, an older OSX, it should be compatible.

part of the misunderstandings here: on your mac you can install Lion and all newer OS, not an older OS than it was originally delivered with, so not SnowLeopard and older. How you acquire the OSX is different: when you jumped an OSX it is not in the Appstore to download as Courcoul explained.

If you post the etrecheck list and explain again exactly what you want to do, it is easier for us to help you achieve that.
