Q: Podcast refuses to download and library refuses to accept music

I am running the latest update of itunes on Windows 7 Home Premium.

When I try to download any episodes of the Sleepycabin podcast, itunes stops the download immediately and puts an exclamation mark on the listed episode. the only other podcast I listen to is Super Best Friendcast, any those downloads still function normally

I also have been trying to add MP3 audio files into my itunes library, but I get no response whenever I drag the file into the library, or use itunes under "open with."

If you hover over the exclamation mark you should see a pop-up bubble telling you what the issue is.

    The most likely things are:

    1. if the exclamation mark is next to the Podcast's header in your iTunes Library, then the Podcast cannot be found on the server
    2. if the exclamation mark is next to an episode, it means that that episode cannot be found. That episode cannot found

I suggest you try contacting the Podcaster as they may not know there is a problem. It may of course be temporary, or it may even be that that Podcast is not available in your country. I've just downloaded S2.E7 without difficulty.

Both the Podcasts you mention have an explicit warning attached to them, so that would suggest that you do not have Restrictions turned on in your Library.

The podcast downloads now work without me doing anything, but my library still won't accept mp3 files.

    Are you sure?

Perhaps the files are being added to your Library but there are in a different section. For example, if an MP3 file is set as Media Type is Audiobook, then it will not appear in the Music section of your Library. Instead, you would need to look under Audiobooks:

Alternatively, if you are looking under the Music/Artists heading, but the MP3 does not have the artist filled in, then that file will be listed under Unknown Artist, not the one you are expecting.
