Q: About to transfer from Windows to Mac. Need advice and tips re transferring. Which ExtHD doesn't need reformatting?

Transfer from Windows to MAC. Need advice on make and model of Ext HD for compatibility that won't need reformatting? Any tips welcome.

    If you want an ext HD to be read by windows and Mac OS. The best choice would be ExFAT format.

    There is no external hard drive that can be used on both Windows and OSX without formatting. External hard drives come either formatted for Windows or formatted for OSX. To use the same drive on both systems you will need to reformat the drive to ExFat. or, you can install a third party app on OSX to allow OSX to read/write to a Windows NTFS formatted drive.
