Save photos from itunes

I have an iphone 6, I have been backing the phone up on itunes periodically. I want to know if I can use itunes to take photos and videos from my phone directly to a folder on my windows computer. This seems much easier than emailing each photo to myself. Also, when I accessed my phone through "my computer" it somehow contained a bunch of photos and folders from my iphone 4S. I can't seem to access that on the phone itself but it appears to be embedded somehow. How do I work with that?

I apologize if this question is a little confusing, I'll be glad to clarify. Thanks.
