Is this is the original display that came on the device?

Ever modified it?

Try cleaning it. YOu'd be surprised the difference a clean screen makes.

Make a back up

Try turning it off/on

Reset settings - Setting > General > Reset > Reset all settings

Erase and set up as new - Setting > General > Reset > Erase all content and Settings

Restore via iTunes

If the issue returns after restoring a back up then erase and start over as new.

But again back up and sync content to computer - https://support.apple.com/en-gb/HT201252

The normal procedures are:

1) a forced restart

2) restore from backup

3) restore as new

4) take to an Apple Store for hardware evaluation

Forced Restart: Hold down the Home and Wake/Sleep buttons at the same time for about 15-20 seconds until the Apple logo appears. You will not lose anything.

System Restore. First backup your device using iTunes. Then import your photos to your computer and copy all important data. Try restoring from backup first and testing it. If it does not help, you may have to restore as New and reconfigure from scratch as the backup could be corrupted. For this reason it is important to have your photos and data saved separately from the backup.
