Encryption paused after clean install?

Hi. After Safari browser was acting up, we tried clean install, but it still acted up, so we deleted everything, and then did clean install. Now says encryption paused - is this problem?

a clean install of the OS?

Encryption takes a while, I've had encryption last more than a day. if it began with a pause it could be it needs to process the drive, but if it started and then encountered a pause it could be an issue.

Id try removing all the external devices from the computer if it was a clean install and encryption is not able to get past the pause state within the first hour.

Please start up in Recovery mode, launch Disk Utility, select the startup drive (not the volume nested below it), and run First Aid. If any problems are found, repeat. Then restart as usual.

If you don't already have a current backup, you must back up your data before you take the above step. You may be able to back up, even if the system isn't fully functional. Ask if you need guidance.
