It sounds to me like you have either enabled Two-factor authentication for Apple ID - Apple Support, or Frequently asked questions about two-step verification for Apple ID - Apple Support. Both are capable of being "disabled."

May 2, 2016 2:20 PM in response to Alan Mushnickby Diana.McCall,I think you need to check the Access Control settings on the AirPlay settings page. In may have gotten turned on in a tvOS update. If you're in a home environment, you should not need either security or device verification.
