passcode hassles

I have been using ATV 4 for months. Lately, for some reason I can not figure out, it keeps asking for a passcode every time I stream music from an iphone or iPad. Or if I mirror or stream other content. Even if my iPhone has been previously linked, the next time I use it I am asked for a passcode, again.

I went into settings to disable the security and turn off whatever I could see to get rid of this hassle. Yet either there is a glitch, or I have missed some other security feature I would be happy to disable.

Any suggestions, greatly appreciated.

Alan,

It sounds to me like you have either enabled Two-factor authentication for Apple ID - Apple Support, or Frequently asked questions about two-step verification for Apple ID - Apple Support. Both are capable of being "disabled."

I think you need to check the Access Control settings on the AirPlay settings page. In may have gotten turned on in a tvOS update. If you're in a home environment, you should not need either security or device verification.
