If you see a message that you have to update your iPhone to at least iOS 8.4 to run an application, then you will have to update your iPhone to the newest version, iOS 9.3.1.
Update the iOS software on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

There's no secret that old hardware doesn't perform well beyond what I refer to as the sweet sport - the specific os that is best suited for a specific hardware version. I'm trying to find a workaround to avoid updating. Advice related to that would be greatly appreciated.
