Not all of my Microsoft .doc files open correctly after copying over from PC.

Just got my MacBook Pro, running OS X El Capitan. Using an SDHC, I copied over all my PC documents. It appears that the .docs files that have some sort of table like formatting will not open correctly.

Do I need a 'Microsoft Office for Mac' type product, if something like that does exist?

Do I need to save those files to a different format before I copy them over?

What to do?

If some of your Microsoft Office files do not open properly, you could get Microsoft Office for Mac.

It is available from Apple store.

Hmm. Thx for this info but it's kinda pricey ($150) and only has a 1 star rating. Anyone know of something better and cheaper?

LibreOffice is quite good and quite compatible with Microsoft Office formats and is free: https://www.libreoffice.org/
