It was frozen, so I tried to do a reset even though my home button is broken (it works SOMETIMES), but instead it just locked my phone and froze again! Can't unlock my phone, can't reset, what do I do? I have the touch assistant thing up which I realised I could use to reset it, but I can't get my phone unlocked! It's a 5S.

You need to get your Home button fixed at Apple or an authorized repair shop.
If you previously connected your iPhone to iTunes on your computer, connect it and make a fresh backup. This does not require a password on the phone.
I have a new phone on the way so I only have a few more days left. Unfortunately, as this is an old phone, I can't access anything with iTunes as I have to enter a passcode on the phone :/
What do you mean by frozen? You could try and download a program like RecBoot and put it into Recovery Mode and then just use RecBoot again to pull it out of Recovery Mode.
If you previously used that phone with that computer, you do not need to enter the passcode to make a backup. You only need to enter the passcode when you're trying to Restore from that backup.
