iPad Pro Multitasking Promblem

I have an iPad Pro and am trying to Multitask. When I am landscape mode and the home button is on the right of the screen I cannot access any of the multitasking features. If the home button is on the left of the screen I can access all of the features though. This is very frustrating because I cannot multitask while using my Apple Keyboard. Is there anything that could be causing this problem or any workarounds?
