If possible, to rule out faulty USB docking cable, try a different cable, or use the current cable with another Apple device, to confirm it works properly.


Also, watch the iPod's screen when you connect it to your computer. Does it say "Do not disconnect" or "Connected"? Or does it only show the battery charging symbol? Or does it not react at all to being connected?


It would be helpful to know if you use a Mac or Windows PC. If Window, what version?
