How to i add a cumulative word count to pages

Please help

Pages 5 provides a built in word count feature, found in the View menu.


It provides a word count for the whole document, but will also provide the word count for a selected chunk of text.


With no text selected, the 'word' count for this document is 6972 (shown at bottom left of the document).

With all text selected on the first page only, the word count drops to 1318 (as can bee seen, I used very small words) 😉

Clicking on the word count bar reveals additional information:

Unfortunately, the displayed information cannot be copied (except by taking a screen shot). You'll need to take manual notes if you want to keep a record.
