Q: Updated my Apple ID but phone is still recognizing old ID

I had recently updated my email and password for my apple ID since my old one was from middle school and now I have graduated college. Since updating though it isn't recognizing the change and when it asks to put in my password for security purposes it shows my old apple ID but accepts my new password. I am not sure what needs to happen, I even have had to restore my phone from its last backup because when I sign out and use my new ID it takes away all my photos on the new ID and don't understand why it is changing that since it is the same account?

any suggestions

Your last backup is tied to your old Apple ID. Did you change the email address that you use for your Apple ID or did you create an entirely new ID? Did you go through every single one of these steps and sign out of the old ID everywhere applicable?

I just changed the email but that looks like its tied with my ID so I am not sure if that changes everything, although I don't think I went through all of the steps to sign out everywhere applicable, I am not sure other than my icloud where my apple ID is applicicable though

That's why I said where applicable. Have you tried signing out of the ID everywhere applicable, restarting phone and then sign in again? You would need to sign  out in the settings for iTunes and App Store and iCloud at the very least.
