It says version 1.5. I really want to eliminate iPhotos and use Adobe Bridge and Photoshop....but with this new El Capitan...I'm not sure how to do that. Can you help me?
It says version 1.5.
You want the new Photos for Mac stop from launching, when you connect a camera or iPhone?
When Photos opens after you connect your camera or iPhone, disable the checkmark "Open Photos for this device". The checkmark will be below the toolbar on the left side of the Photos window. Then quit Photos, don't force quit, or it will not write the preferences file.
This checkmark will prevent Photos from opening until you format the card in the camera. Everytime you reformat the card, Photos will see it as a new device and open by default.
Otherwise just ignore Photos, you are not forced to use it. Uninstalling Photos is not simple.
Uninstalling Photos requires to disable the System Integrity Protection of your Mac.
The Photos.app is just a small wrapper calling processes and frameworks that are deeply integrated into the system. Photos itself has just 54 MB, that is smaller than a single, high resolution RAW photo, while iPhoto with 1.7GB had more then 30 times the size of Photos.
Uninstalling Photos will not free any storage, but modify the system and may cause problems with applications that are relying on its presence.
Until I loaded El Capitan, my photo downloader would ask me where I wanted the photos from my camera to download. Now it simply downloads all my photos (from my camera which I will be using from now on) to Photos version 1.5. I would prefer my photos download to Adobe Bridge...can anyone tell me how to do that?
Use Image Capture
