How to remove Thumbnails on a Mac

Hello,

I just found out that when I enter an folder that the pictures inside that folder are instantly being loaded. It seems like they are cached somehow in the system to load up faster.

I'd like to know if there is a possibility to remove that "cache" so when I enter the folder the pictures are being cached again.

I tried to reboot and shut down my mac but that didn't seem to help. I don't know what to do since I'm a new Mac user.

Have a nice day.

apparenlty Mac OS does not build a cache like Windows (e.g. thumbsDB) while the mac has a _DS.Store file this does not appear to keep the icon image cache but rather the position of the icon and the background image. Removal of the cache may be proprietary to OS X and not changeable without reverse engineering which is not permitted as per the EULA we all agreed to when we installed it and again when we joined these forums.

Really no idea why you'd want to do this, but here goes:

- using an utility like OnyX, you can clear the icon services cache

- some of the information Finder uses to display the contents of each folder is stored in an invisible file called .DS_Store in that folder. Removing this will, for instance, "forget" the position of each file icon in Icon View; not sure if this has any effect on the icons themselves.
