Indesign slows down network

When we open a indesign files from a Apple OS X SBM share, the network go's terrible slow.

We have indesign files with 30 links per page, when scrolling down the document the network traffic peeks.

We have a MacPro as server, with a bond ethernet link to the switch.

Scrolling in one document makes the server have to serve more then 10MB/sec to load 1 indesign document.

What can we do about this.

Mac mini, OS X El Capitan (10.11.4), OS X Server 5.x

I am not familiar with the product nor the server set up but you might try asking here
