iPad email folders are incomplete.

Many of the email subfolders in the iPad include only 3 emails compared to the iPhone 6 which has many in the same folders. Even went to the Genius Bar last night where they erased my iPad hoping to correct the problem, then reinstalled when the erasure did not produce any additional emails. Could this be an IOS problem (their idea)?
