Does Apple make or suggest what kind of Flash drives to use with iMac OS X

Please post the entire and exact error message

How did you erase it?

Does it show up in Disk Utility?

If the disk was erase, it will not hurt to Initialize.

Then (as Kim has said) press the "Initialize" button to prepare the drive for use. (The drive will be erased by this)

What does Disk Utility say about the disk

Insert Flash Drive.

Start Disk Utility.

Select Top section of Flash Drive if more than 1 and select erase.

Use MS-Dos(FAT) and Master Boot Record.

Then select Erase.

Once done if indented section is not visible, you may have to eject it from the desktop. Remove and then reinsert flash drive.

Select indented section and select Erase. Select Format of MS-Dos (FAT) and click erase.

Again you may have to eject it and then reinsert it. Once reinserted it should be ok.

What part are you having trouble with.

To start disk utility open Apps then Utilities then disk utility.
