my app store app is missing on my apple tv

I have two Apple TVs, 2nd and 3rd generation, and BOTH had App Store on them, and that's what I paid for, but it has been removed, filched, knicked, filched or nobbled in a devious and underhand manner. What use are Apple TVs without access to all the Apps that were promised

I have a brand new ATv4. I only have photos, podcast, search, computers and settings, no APP store. Please help.

The 2nd and 3rd gen never had an app store, they had preset channels that were sent via server. The 4th gen is the first to have an app store with apps developed for the new TVOS platform.

What generation Apple TV do you have? What OS version?

Only ATV 4th generation have App Store.

There was no App Store before, but kept adding built-in "apps" (channels).

Make sure your device has up-to-date software (for that generation). You can also check in Settings if that channel is hidden.

Well that *****. Why can't they add it? Or at least add the Sling app. I'm going to have to go back to cable.

The older devices never had it to begin with, and were marketed as such. The current Apple TV runs a completely different OS with apps that are only designed for that platform.

I use AirPlay Mirroring to display DIRECTV Now from the iPad app through the older Apple TV to my TV display. Works well enough.

same problem here....I can't add Sling but I don't want to keep cable

As already stated, you can't add apps to the older models and will have to use airplay if you wish to stream via your ATV
