Outdated iTunes software may be the reason why you can't sync your iPhone.
Just so you are aware, your iPhone runs iOS 9.3.1.

May 11, 2016 6:14 PM in response to Carolyn Samitby whappen'd?,I have a vaguely similar problem. My iPhone SE running iOS9.3.1, when connected to my Mac running the newly upgraded iTunes 12.3.3.17, is not recognized by iTunes, so that I can do nothing with the SE that iTunes should allow, such as synching, backing up, etc. I fully suspect the new iTunes upgrade is at fault and that it was released inadequately tested, making me regret again having trusted Apple.
