What error is it giving you?
install button is greyed out, says this disc is used for time machine backups
That usually indicates that the installer found a file called Backups.backupdb on that disk. The installer will not install on a disk that has such a file on it. As long as you are not backing up to that disk then delete the file and try to install again.
not able to find that filename thru finder how else might i find it? thanks
Check your hard drive level where the Applications, Library, System, and Users folder are. It is normally there.
