I have forgotten my iPhone password

I have recently changed my password on my iPhone 6 and I have forgotten it, when I try to update it or restore it, it says that my phone needs to be unlocked before it can restore or update. what do I do?

iPhone 6, iOS 9.3.1

Did you forget the passcode to open or the Apple ID PW?
