Why is my MacBook Pro's wifi so slow?

So here's the situation. My MacBook Pro running El Capitan does not have an ethernet port to plug in directly to the modem to test internet speeds so we used my roommates laptop running Windows 10. When we did the speed test it measured 84mbps, well above the 75mbps that we pay for. When we each tested our laptops over wifi, hers, the Windows 10 laptop using Firefox, measures speeds at 40mbps while my MacBook, running El Capitan and using Safari, only ever measures speeds at 25mbps. Is this normal? Is there something wrong with my Mac? And is it normal for the speed to drop so drastically over wifi and hardline connections? Any info or assistance would be appreciated.

MacBook Pro (Retina, 13-inch, Late 2013)

Modem we're using is Arris SurfBoard SB6183.

Router is Belkin N450 DB Wireless N Router Model: F9K1105v1
