Won't turn on. Beeps 3 times.

EArly 2011 MacBook Pro 13 2.4ghz i5 320gb HDD upgraded to 16gb ra.

Got this a few days ago. Randomly would turn off and restart. Was getting to the apple logo and loading bar and would get halfway and then die again, so I tried all the resets to no avail. Formatted hard drive and re installed latest os X.

IT worked and then it turned off and would not turn on again except to make the 3 beeps and LED flashes with it. So I booked into the Genius Bar and took it in and straight away it had worked like magic. Couldnt find any issues so I was stumped.

Upgraded the RAM anyway and has been working fine and today all of a sudden it has turned itseld off and now won't even load the apple logo screen just stays blank and beeps 3 times continuously.

The three tones indicate a RAM issue.

Install the original RAM and see if the 'beeping' stops and the MBP functions.

If so, test the new RAM as follows. Take each module singly and install it in each slot and see it works. Do it for both modules. This will determine if one module is faulty or one slot is.

If it beeps 3 times, and does not turn on at all, no ram is read at all (assuming the modules are at least 4GB). Are you sure to have the exact specs?

Could be an indication that something on the logic board has failed and the RAM is not properly recognized.

On some Macs like the 2011 MacBook Pro that use "stacked" dual slot DIMM adapter, Users have found that the screws holding the adapter to the board were over-tightened at the factory. Loosening the screws and hand tightening "just snug" has occasionally helped if this is your problem. But of course, "Your Mileage May Vary".

it is an understatement: antivirus apps are good for Windows, in OSX they throttling at the least.

the com.avira.kext.FileAccessControl 1.2.2 caused the crash: especially the "on access" behaviour of the antivirus apps is causing much trouble in OSX.

Cool, coming from a windows background and typically finding malware/viruses frequently was hesitant to leave the macbook without one.

Uninstalled and also now have a laptop cooling pad to keep temps down. They were getting up to 100C. Also installed the smcfancontrol.

An up-to-date Mac is already well protected against random attack:

But nothing can protect against "Trojan Horse" attacks that sucker you into inadvertently installing stuff, except you own vigilance.

this message in the kernel panic report states:

panic -- Kernel stack memory corruption detected

that sort of memory corruption is most likely caused by RAM memory failure, especially with corroborating evidence such as startup tones in groups of three.

Did you ever figure out the issue? I have the same computer, same problem. I upgraded my hard rive to an SSD, upgraded memory... nothing is fixing it.
