I have an iMac OS X El Capitan Version 10.11.4 and would like to copy music from iTunes
on to a USB. I have tried the usual method of highlighting songs and dropping them on to
the USB. I have also had online chat with Apple which was very involved but still no luck.
Please can anybody help me.

Sorry but it did not work. I did exactly what you said put the USB in the radio on USB and it said No Data
yet I can see the one song I copied?

USB is just a connection type, it does not specify what device. There's dozens of things that can be connected by USB.
If this is a brand new hard drive it likely is formatted for Windows use. Use disk Utility to format to Mac Extended.
I did use disk Utility to format to Mac OS Extended but it still did not work. I am using an Integral stick. Do you think this is unsuitable
to do this task.
Please pardon me for jumping in, but when you said you 'put it in the radio' it led me to believe that you want to use the USB stick to play the songs in your car. If so, Mac OS Extended may not work - and this fact may not be noted in the owners manual for your audio system. For my 2015 Honda, I had to format the stick FAT; the owners manual didn't mention that. You'll also need to make sure the files are a type your audio system will play.

You are quite right I do want it for in my car. Trouble is I am waiting for owners book for my Fiat but will go ask the garage.
In the meantime I will the FAT - I have tried everything else. Many thanks
I wouldn't hold out much hope for help from either the owners manual or the dealer, but that's just due to my Honda experience. Good luck, though.
