"Applications" can't be opened because the origional item can't be found

Installed the Server app on my 2011 iMac (slim) to use in my small design team, to share files mainly. Initially seemed to be ok. People were struggling to save files back in the same location. After looking at the permission setting and restarting my computer as in totally started freezing up. Then gave me a new login destop view with no access to any applications, I have not been able to access the "Server app" to adjust any settings.

The Machine has 1TB HD and 8G Memory.

Where did this Server App come from?

The Mac Apple store on the US website or the South African website (as I take by your user id you are in Cape Town,South Africa?)

Try restarting the iMac and hold down the LEFT Shift Key to boot into SAFE MODE

then see if you can get into System Settings>Users>Login Items and use the ➖ minus key to remove any startup items

Then uninstall the Server App

Restart the iMac and see if that solved your problem

Use Sharing>Folders to have the others save locally to your computer

"Applications" can't be opened because the origional item can't be found
