iMac not recognizing USB Apple mouse

Hi All,

I have an iMac on 10.11.4 and for some reason the USB classic Apple mouse is not recognized in any USB port on the machine or Keyboard. It has been working fine for 4 years now, until Monday when it quit working, but an unplug and plug back in resolved it. Now today it won't recognize it at all.

Things I have tried so far:

  • Checking for all available updates
  • Plugged into all available USB ports
  • Cleared NVRAM
  • Reset SMC

What makes this better is I have tried the non working mouse on another mac and it works fine. I have tried another Apple Mouse and it also does not work. I did plug in a Classic MPC Microsoft USB mouse and it works fine. So the mystery is why all of the sudden does it not like it's own native mouse in any USB ports?

Thanks for any advice, it is appreciated.
