Q: How do I achieve this monitor goal?
I barely use a computer - just for a few items, so I don't know anything about monitors or wireless technology. I'm hoping to post what I want to accomplish and someone can tell me if my goal is possible and what kind of hardware is involved.
I'm using my iMac as the monitor for music learning software. I've got it hooked into a digital piano and the software displays written music and I play along on the piano. The problem is that the iMac sitting on the piano is not convenient for anything else and moving it back and forth to a nearby desk every day is a hassle.
I'm wondering if the iMac can sit on a desk about 15 feet away - and whether there is such a thing as a wireless monitor that can sit on the piano and display the software that's running on the Mac. All I need on the piano is a monitor and a mouse to click between exercises.
Is this easy to achieve? And would the monitor be essentially as instantaneous as working straight for the iMac? ie, no lag time to mess up my playing?
And if it can be done, can the iMac also multi-task in this configuration? Could my wife be sitting at the desk checking her emails on the iMac and I'm simultaneously using the music software - but interfacing on the remote wireless monitor across the room?
