Why is the internet speed on my Apple TV 4 faster on wifi than ethernet?

Hello,

I have an Apple TV 4. I tested my internet speed using the device's SpeedTest app. When I connect Apple TV to my router with an ethernet cable (5e), my download speed is 45 Mbps. When I disconnect the ethernet cable and use wifi, the download speed is 89 Mbps. Can someone explain why this might be? It should be the reverse.

Thanks,
Ryan

Hello,

I think this may be due to the ATV 4 ethernet port being only 10/100 Mbps. Your WiFi network is probably giving speed greater than 100 Mbps, allowing a faster data rate.
