Apple CarPlay and MyLink

I have a 2016 Chevrolet truck with MyLink system. So far using Apple CarPlay has been disappointing. The features do not make it worth my while to connect my iPhone via USB. So far I prefer Bluetooth connection. The most disappointing is the use of map apps. I find the Apple map app to be lacking. Google maps is far superior, but cannot be used in CarPlay. Is the an app that can be used in CarPlay that is comparable to Google maps?
